Her World, Her Work

America’s Scream Queen Sweetheart Meredith Darling spent most of her life in Montreal where she attended Dawson College’s Dome Theatre Program under its founding fathers and the Montreal School of Performing Arts under Montreal’s Acting Mama Josa Maule, CBC Radio Vestibule’s Terence Bowman and the voice of Virgin Radio, Paula Davis. She also attended The Second City Chicago and the One-Year Conservatory Program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. Also a talented writer, her 90-minute play Garden of Edie was performed at Théatre LaChappelle to numerous accolades. She is currently developing a one-woman show about a mental patient in love with her psychiatrist. Reflecting on her career, Meredith has stated that the most cherished review she has ever received was for her portrayal of Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s official biographer Alan Hustak deigned to grace pages of the theatre section of The Montreal Gazette to pronounce, “Meredith Darling chomps her lines to the point of ridiculousness.” Asked why she held Hustak’s words so dear, Meredith has said, “Because ‘what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger’ and also you can’t make this shit up.”

"You just do it. You force yourself to get up. You force yourself to put one foot before the other, and God damn it, you refuse to let it get to you. You fight. You cry. You curse. Then you go about the business of living. That's how I've done it. There is no other way."
